Morgana support Guide – Everything you need to know
While Morgana isn’t really popular at the highest elo currently, she’s one of the most played champions at the lower elo. Given her great damage and lockdown potential, she is perfect to destroy enemies in solo queue games.
Considering that the best ADCs to play with Morgana are also quite strong currently, she is the ideal champion to learn and play. If you are not sure how to build Morgana, though, we’ve compiled the best current builds and runes setups.
Morgana support item build
Morgana can go for different builds depending on her role within the game. She can either go for the full-damage AP build or the utility-oriented one. Whichever build you choose, however, you’re guaranteed to be useful at any stage of the game. With that in mind, let’s check out the two builds
AP Build
Since the build is fully revolved around dealing damage, Morgana wants to prioritize all the high-value magic items. Grab the Mythic Liandry’s Anguish, followed by Zhonya’s and Sorcerer’s Shoes as the core trio of items. The Zhonya is extremely important since the vulnerable active can be used to become untargetable and stun the enemies with the ultimate.
Round off the build with Rylai’s Crystal Scepter for the passive slow, as well as a Morellonomicon and Rabadon’s Deathcap. Given Morgana’s DPS damage on her W, paired with Liandry’s DoT, she can easily proc the antiheal effect. Overall, this is the most common full AP build:
- Liandry’s Anguish
- Zhonya’s Hourglass
- Ionian Boots of Lucidity/Sorcerer’s Shoes
- Rylai’s Crystal Scepter
- Morellomicon
- Watchful Wardstone/Rabadon’s Deathcap
Utility build
For this build, on the other hand, we want to prioritize the usage of our spells and be the setup for other teammates. With that in mind, you want to rush Zhonya’s Hourglass immediately, and use it to bait engages or in tandem with your ultimate. While you do lose damage, you will be able to bring more crowd control earlier on.
Grab Ionian Boots of Lucidity for the ability and summoner spell haste. After that, you can grab Liandry’s Anguish and then pick up a Redemption. The item healing can be crucial during teamfights. Close off the build with Watchful Wardstone and Morellonomicon or a Banshee’s Veil: Morgana is squishy and needs the spellshield so she can cast her own E on the allies.
- Zhonya’s Hourglass
- Ionian Boots of Lucidity/Sorcerer’s Shoes
- Liandry’s Anguish
- Redemption
- Watchful Wardstone
- Morellomicon/Banshee’s Veil

Morgana’s runes
Morgana is a heavy Arcane Comet user so that is the only rune she needs to pick up. It increases her harass during the laning phase, and given the root on her Q, hitting it will also ensure the comet hits the enemy target.
By going Arcane Comet, you usually want to pick the following minor runes:
- Manaflow Band for the extra 25 mana;
- Transcendence for the ability haste so you can cast spells more often;
- Scorch to further increase your poke or early-game damage.

For the secondary tree, choose Inspiration and go for Perfect Timing and Biscuit Delivery. The first is a great way to get Zhonya’s item component for free (and one initial active cast), while Biscuit Delivery provides additional mana and health during the laning phase to play aggressively.
If you want to play Morgana and succeed with her, sticking to this guide will allow you to get the most out of the Fallen.
